Help & FAQ
How accounts, parental permission, Fit Factor sorts, and sharing work.
High school students
How old must a student be to create an account?
Students must be at least 13. Account creation does not wait for parental approval. Verify your email, then follow any remaining activation instructions on your landing page.
How do I ask for parental permission?
If consent is required, enter a parent email during signup and continue to your landing page. You can send another request from the alert or the parent section of Account Settings.
Why is my approval not being recognized?
You can send another request immediately, even while others are pending. After three declines, contact support. A Yes from any valid pending request still satisfies consent.
How do I complete a Fit Factor sort?
Place all 64 cards into High Priority, Medium Priority, Low Priority, or Non-Factor. There is no right answer: choose what matters to you. Drag cards on a larger screen, or use each unsorted card’s priority buttons on a phone. When every card is placed, use the submit button in the header.
Can I stop and return later?
Your sort saves automatically while you are online. Wait for the saved confirmation before leaving; a save error means your latest changes may not be stored. In the post-sort activity, use Save and exit. Return to your sort or results to resume an unfinished ranking activity.
When do students answer follow-up questions?
After submitting the card placements, students rank their High Priority cards and then answer follow-up questions. Required questions can apply to cards in any priority group, so putting a card in Non-Factor does not always remove its questions. Answer the required questions to finish; personal definitions and the final survey are optional.
What if cards seem missing or I cannot submit?
Select All in the suit filter to show every category, and check both the unsorted tray and the priority groups. Filters hide cards; they do not remove them. All 64 cards must be placed before submission. If saving fails, check your connection and retry. If the problem continues, report it through Settings with the page URL and the card names, if known.
Can I change my priorities later?
Yes. Return to the sort, adjust your placements, and submit again to create a new sort. Previous completed sorts remain in your history. Review any carried-over rankings or answers and complete the post-sort steps for the new sort.
Where can I find the people and organizations connected to me?
Open Connections to see your current school, cohort, assigned counselors, accepted family connections, pending family invitations, and preferred universities. You can open the full profile of counselors assigned to your cohort. Pending invitations show whether you sent or received them. Revoked relationships are not shown.
How do I change my school or cohort?
Ask the counselor of the cohort you want to join for its QR code or invitation link. A move made by an administrator or counselor does not require your confirmation.
When is a student's Sort visible to someone else?
An in-progress, abandoned, counselor-authored, or cohort Sort is never shared as the student's result. Shared views show “Sort not completed” and no result, report, answers, or trading card until a qualifying personal submission is complete. Parents and universities see the same latest submitted Sort and associated trading card when their relationship or consent permits it; parents do not see Sort history.
What does sharing my full card include?
I agree to share my full completed Fit Factor card: name, photo, role, school, residence city and country, graduation year, intended major, card priorities, rankings, personal definitions and answers. Authorized recruiters at this university can view it and use its shared fields in student filters and aggregate reports. Future completed cards and profile edits update what they see. Counselor notes are excluded. I can stop sharing; copies already saved cannot be recalled.
How does QR sharing work?
Approve full-card sharing once to enable your QR. Eligible university recruiters who scan it gain access for their university without another approval. Remove a university or disable your QR to stop access. Existing accounts must accept the updated scope.
What should I do with a school or family invitation?
Start from the invitation link and review who invited you. Sign in to your existing account when you already have one. Student age and parental-permission requirements still apply when creating a new account. If an invitation is unavailable or expired, ask the sender for a current invitation.

Parents and guardians
What does the parent or guardian need to do?
Open the consent request email, review the student details, and choose Yes or No. Creating a parent account is optional.
Why is my approval not being recognized?
You can send another request immediately, even while others are pending. After three declines, contact support. A Yes from any valid pending request still satisfies consent.
Does parental permission automatically share my results?
Permission to create an account is separate from linking a parent account or sharing with a university. A parent-student connection has its own invitation process. University sharing requires separate student consent and approved university access. Review each invitation or sharing request before accepting it.
What can I see about my family?
Family links activate when the invited email is verified. You can see your linked child's current profile and latest submitted Sort while sharing is enabled. There is no Sort history or access to a co-parent's unrelated children. Sharing is managed in Account Settings.

Counselors and school administrators
What is different for counselors and universities?
Counselor and university personal sorts use the same 64-card placement step, followed by prioritization of their High Priority cards. They do not require student follow-up questions or the final student survey. University users return to their university profile after completing prioritization; university approval requirements still apply.

How do I avoid sending students to the wrong school?
Before distributing a cohort invitation or QR code, open it and confirm the school, location and cohort. Schools can have the same name. Ask an administrator to resolve duplicate records; changing a printed QR code requires distributing the corrected code.
Which counselor and student profiles can I open?
You can open the full contact and professional profile of active counselor colleagues at your school. School and cohort lists link to stable student profiles even before a student completes a Sort. Access remains limited to your school and assigned relationships, and an incomplete Sort is never available as a result.

University recruiters
How is my university account assigned?
Verify your institutional email. An Admin-approved exact email domain assigns eligible recruiters to the same university; the first verified recruiter activates it. For an unknown domain, enter the university name, country and city and wait for Admin review. Colleagues see the same university profile and permitted student list. Domain approval does not grant student consent.
What is different for counselors and universities?
Counselor and university personal sorts use the same 64-card placement step, followed by prioritization of their High Priority cards. They do not require student follow-up questions or the final student survey. University users return to their university profile after completing prioritization; university approval requirements still apply.

What can recruiters at the same university see?
Approved, active recruiters can open the profiles of other approved recruiters at their university. Everyone at the university shares the same student selections, dashboard, and lists. Students are not assigned to individual recruiters. Student profiles and submissions still require the applicable student consent.

FF administrators
What must an administrator review?
Check official email-domain evidence before approval. A suggested website domain is not a verified email domain. For duplicate universities, compare both records field by field, fill missing data, choose the current published sort and review the merge preview. Keep completed sorts intact. Do not approve a domain solely because an applicant supplied it.

How are people organized in Admin lists?
Every mixed-role list identifies each person's active roles. Counselors and students appear in separate sections on school and cohort views, with other roles labeled clearly. Schools, cohorts, universities, and permitted user records link to their own detail pages; student identity links do not depend on Sort completion.
